Purpose Principle: Multiplication

Hey Sis,

Recently, God called me to pivot in some major areas and strategies in my life. I detailed some of this in this week's episode of God, Goals, and Girl Talk. One thing that God really had to change my perspective on in this season is His propensity to operate in the principle of multiplication.

The first command ever given to human beings was to be 'be fruitful and multiply' (Genesis 1:28). In the parable of the talents, the servants who were seen as good and faithful each doubled (multiplied) what the Master had provided The principle of multiplication can be seen throughout scripture and is always accompanied by fruitfulness, a byproduct of walking in purpose.

When you look up the meaning of multiply in the Greek and Hebrew here are the definitions:

  • Increase or to be increased

  • Made full or maximum capacity

  • To grow great

  • To be abundant

After reading those definitions, you should be excited about multiplication! The gag is though that multiplication and fruitfulness are preceded by pruning, the cutting away of useless parts [see also: preparation]. To our carnal minds we see things being removed and alarms go off because the math really ain't 'mathing' at the point for us. We resist and give push back on the very thing that is preparing us for our increase and abundance. That's because to us pruning looks like death by subtraction. But in John 15, Jesus tells us:

“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more (John 15:1-2 NLT). Basically sis...

I want to give you some strategy to help you press into your pruning.

Stay connected to the vine. Don't allow what you see or don't see to dictate your relationship with God, especially because we know what is on the other side of the pruning, increase by multiplication. You must REMAIN in position (John 15:4 NLT).

Sow seeds as led by God. It's easy to recluse in the pruning process because it feels like loss. Ask God to show you where and how to sow while He prepares you for the next season. Sowing is beyond giving monetarily, this isn't that give $100 dollars and be blessed manipulation tactic. Sitting at God's feet and serving others are also examples sowing seed. God wants your heart not your coins. Remember that God gives seed to the sower

(2 Corinthians 9:10 NLT).

Steward well over what you currently have. Seasons of pruning are a great time to evaluate how you are stewarding over everything else God has given you. It's so easy to neglect the other areas of your life when you are being pruned. Are you stewarding well over your job? Are you stewarding well over your home? What about your marriage? Your family relationships? As God is clearly preparing you to multiply ask Him for revelation and wisdom to ensure you are prepared to manage and sustain the coming increase. You have to ensure that what you have been entrusted with is managed before asking God for more (1 Timothy 3:5 NLT).
